a51.org.uk: To Do List
The potential “to do” list for a51.org.uk is very long but it’s also very unlikely most of it will actually happen. History has taught me that lesson!
Nevertheless, I do have to have a few plans or I’d get nowhere. So I’m going to keep a brief list of the tasks I’m working on here to motivate myself and to let anyone that is interested know what I’m currently working on. This task list will intentionally be kept small and manageable.
1. Design an a51.org.uk logo
This is not as easy as it sounds. I’ve been playing around with *GIMP for a few hours and I’m quickly discovering I really need to learn how to use it properly before I’m going to get much further.
So the sub-task here is going to be:
1a. Spend some time reading some good GIMP tutorials
Fortunately, following a brief Google, I’ve found there are plenty of great guides out there. I’ll try to post anything really useful I find on the blog!
* GIMP stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program and it’s a free fully-functional art package like Photoshop but significantly cheaper. You can get it from www.gimp.org
2. Design or customise a Wordpress theme
Wordpress is very easy to get up and running but it’s also very plain without a good theme. Well, what you are looking at now isn’t particularly inspiring is it! Graphic design isn’t a skill that comes naturally to me but I do want to make this site my own and not resort to using a completely pre-made skin. Soooo…
2a. Spend some time reading some good Wordpress theme customisation tutorials
You guessed it! Fortunately again, there is plenty of documentation on the web about this stuff.
That’s it. Nothing else pending so far.
